Happy New Year!

Snow is still on the ground and cold temps continue in the Big Sky State.  So what’s new?

There’s alot of talk about how this weather is unusual this year.  However, if you talk to the old-timers, they say it used to be like this often in the past.  For the last ten years it’s been unusually mild and we are just getting back to normal this year.  Don’t put your tongue on anything metal. Especially in below zero weather.  Keep yourself warm and try not to eat too much and gain that weight you don’t want.  Time to amp up your excercise regimen again.

Remember …”You can’t get enough of what you don’t want.”

Hey, the weather man is saying warming temps are moving into the area and that the pineapple express will be giving us rain.  The water may cause some problems.  Hey, bring it on.  Ice jams, avalanches, flooding and above freezing temps.  It’ll give everyone something to talk and busy ourselves about.

Stay healthy whatever you do.

I’m going to leave you with the following.  Hope you’re having the beginning of a great year.

“Body talks”

                                                                     By-John Walker

The vessel is complaining

What are you doing now?

You’ve got to get with it boy

Right here, right now, and how

If I’m to carry you

Through to your destiny

You’d better take a moment out

To listen now to me

For if you keep on the way you are

You’ll run me in the ground

And before you’re ready to go

I may not be around.

Exercising your prerogative

To fill me with substances

That tear me down and do such harm

Will surely put and end to us

My duty will continue yes

No matter what you do

But just remember in side of me

I’m outside of you

And we’re connected in this life

With duties to each other

So help me now and carry this weight

For really I’m your brother.

Regards,

John

Home again

It’s good to be back in the great state of Montana.  New York is a fun place to visit but Montana is the last best place to come home.  Today it reminds me of a poem that was recently sent my way by a friend and I’m going to let it speak for all of us who have chosen to make our home’s here in Big Sky Country.

Montana

Written by Charles C. Cohan”Montana

Written by Charles C. Cohan

Composed by Joseph E. Howard

Tell me of that Treasure State

Story always new,

Tell of its beauties grand

And its hearts so true.

Mountains of sunset fire

The land I love the best

Let me grasp the hand of one

From out the golden West.

Montana, Montana,

Glory of the West

Of all the states from coast to coast,

You’re easily the best.

Montana, Montana,

Where skies are always blue

M-O-N-T-A-N-A,

Montana, I love you.

Each country has its flow’r;

Each one plays a part,

Each bloom brings a longing hope

To some lonely heart.

Bitter Root to me is dear

Growing in my land

Sing then that glorious air

The one I understand.

Montana, Montana,

Glory of the West

Of all the states from coast to coast,

You’re easily the best.

Montana, Montana,

Where skies are always blue

M-O-N-T-A-N-A,

Montana, I love you.”

Just thought you might enjoy that.

I’m gazing at some snow capped mountains called the “Tobacco Roots” this morning.  Quiet, majestic and formidable. Quite a frame for the Big Sky of Montana.

Blow out the gunk

May 27th, 2010 jwalker No comments

I was sitting on a fireplug in New York City Yesterday, outside of ‘The Irish Pub’ on the corner of 7th ave and 36 st waiting for the cab to take me back to my Newark hotel, when I observed the sea of yellow cabs on the street in front of me.  At one point there was a cab then a Lexus, a cab then a Mercedes, a cab and then a Cadillac, a cab and then a BMW all moving at about 2 mph.  It was very slow getting back through the Lincoln Tunnel from Midtown.

It all made me wonder why anyone in their right mind would even own a car in New York City especially a very expensive automobile.  Those cars are made to be driven and are not mechanically happy to putt along at horse and buggy speed.

So I’d like to invite you New Yorker’s, driving those fancy name cars, to come out and visit us in Montana this summer. If not for the wonderful scenery of the big sky country, do it for your car.  Sometimes between Butte and Dillon,Mt. , 65 miles from one another, you may see just six cars.  If we need to get to a Lowe’s, it’s 120 miles to Bozeman.  Speed limit is 75 mph.

So you can see my point.  Just come on out and Blow out the gunk.  You will not see a sea of yellow cabs.  You will see some beautiful natural environment, and you will be able to get that car up to a speed that will make it a happy machine.

If not for you….do it for your fancy car!  Blow out the gunk!

You will enjoy yourself…and you need that…after sitting in that 2mph traffic …in the sea of yellow….

Blue skies and open highway’s are awaiting you.
